Rock ‘n’ Roll legend Ozzy Osbourne, often hailed as the “Godfather of Heavy Metal,” possessed some of the most distinctive tattoo styles found anywhere in the music world. Each tattoo tells a unique story, reflecting his life experiences, personal beliefs, and artistic expressions.

Hand of Doom
One of Ozzy’s earliest tattoos was the bold lettering “O-Z-Z-Y” sprawled across his knuckles. According to Ozzy, this tattoo was a do-it-yourself job he completed at the tender age of 16, showcasing his rebellious spirit and love for permanent body art from a young age.
Vampire Skull
Adorning his upper left chest was a striking tattoo of a vampire skull, shrouded in a dramatic red cloth. Upon closer inspection, one can observe a disturbing crack across its forehead, resembling a bullet hole, adding a layer of macabre detail to this visually arresting piece.
Sharon’s Tattoo
A testament to his enduring love for his wife, Sharon, this tattoo featured her name elegantly inked on his right shoulder, delicately placed beneath a rose. This piece not only symbolized their relationship, which gained public recognition through their reality show, The Osbournes, but also served as a personal tribute to the woman who stood by him through thick and thin.
Stickman
On his left wrist lied a whimsical stick man tattoo, yet another home job. Above the figure were playful thought bubbles, and when he grabbed a microphone, it created an amusing illusion that the stick man was running it into his mouth, embodying Ozzy’s whimsical humor and creativity.
Heart Locket
Tattooed on his inner forearm was a heart locket, serving as a heartfelt tribute to his late mother. This piece captured not just his affection for her but also the deep connection that often underlied his lyrics and public persona.
Chinese Dragon
One of the most prominent tattoos on Ozzy’s body was a grand, flaming blue dragon, intricately detailed on his upper right chest. The artistry of this tattoo drew inspiration from ancient Chinese folklore, capturing the mythical creature’s ferocity and beauty, reflecting Ozzy’s dynamic personality and epic stage presence.
Dagger
On his right forearm was a tattoo of a dagger inscribed with the word “Mom” wrapped in a flowing banner. This piece held significant sentimental value; it was one of his first tattoos, acquired when he was just 15 years old, symbolizing his deep respect and love for his mother.
The Gargoyle
Enhancing his left shoulder was a striking tattoo of a menacing gargoyle, enveloped in intricate details. In its claw-like grip, it wert the head of a zombie/vampire woman, further emphasizing the gothic themes prevalent in his music and personal aesthetic.
Smiley Faces
A rare and lighter addition to his tattoo collection, Ozzy sported two playful ‘stick-n-poke’ smiley faces on his knees, showing a humorous side to the otherwise dark imagery that predominated his tattoos. These quirky designs stood out as charming reminders of his fun-loving nature.
Monster Sleeve
One of his more recent additions was the sprawling sleeve on his right arm, which served as a cacophonous collage of monsters, flames, dragons, and other nightmarish entities. This tattoo reflected the chaotic artistry synonymous with Ozzy’s music career, showcasing his love for the dark and theatrical elements of rock culture.
Rest in Peace
Rest in peace, Ozzy. You were a true original whose music, wild spirit, and unapologetic authenticity inspired generations. From Black Sabbath’s thunderous riffs to your unforgettable solo career, you changed the sound of rock forever. Though the stage lights may dim, your voice, your energy, and your legacy will echo for all time.
